3.13.1  Applicable Policy Statement: Any institution seeking or holding accreditation from more than one U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting body must describe itself in identical terms to each recognized accrediting body with regard to purpose, governance, programs, degrees, diplomas, certificates, personnel, finances, and constituencies, and must keep each institutional accrediting body apprised of any change in its status with one or another accrediting body.

Narrative

The single institution-wide accreditation held by the University of New Orleans is that granted by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).  The University is accredited to award undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees.  The University accreditation status is published in the Catalog  [Page: 5] and on the website.

Individual colleges, programs, and units are encouraged to seek discipline-specific accreditation as appropriate.  At present, such accreditation has been granted by the following nine accrediting bodies, the list of which is published on the website:

Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
Undergraduate programs in the College of Engineering and Department of Computer Science are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International)
The College of Business Administration is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
The programs in Counselor Education in the College of Education and Human Development are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.

National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD)
The programs in Fine Arts are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)
The programs in Music are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST)
The Department of Film and Theater is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre.

National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
The Teacher Education and Educational Leadership programs in the College of Education and Human Development are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, currently known as the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA)
The Master's of Public Administration program is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration.

Planning Accreditation Board (PAB)
The Master's of Urban & Regional Planning program is accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board.

Each of the nine accrediting agencies granted accreditation to the respective program in the most recent visit.  Table 1 presents each college/degree program, accrediting body, as well as the dates of the last and next visit.  It is important to note that no negative action was taken by any accrediting agency during its last visit. 

The accreditation notification letters for each agency and self-reports are presented below.

The University of New Orleans has neither withdrawn from accreditation from any agency nor is it the subject of pending approval, suspension, withdrawal, or termination with any of the mentioned above accrediting agencies.
