3.13.3  Applicable Policy Statement: Each institution is required to have in place student complaint policies and procedures that are reasonable, fairly administered, and well-publicized. (See FR 4.5). The Commission also requires, in accord with federal regulations, that each institution maintains a record of complaints received by the institution. This record is made available to the Commission upon request. This record will be reviewed and evaluated by the Commission as part of the institution’s decennial evaluation.

Narrative

The University of New Orleans complies with the policies of the Commission on Colleges “Complaint Procedures Against the Commission or its Accredited Institutions”. The report for Federal Requirement 4.5 provides detailed information about procedures to respond to different types of student complaints that are reasonable, fairly administered, and publicized. The procedure document “Responding to Student Complaints” describes the manner in which each type of complaint is managed, including the maintenance of a log of complaints. The log includes descriptive information regarding the type of complaint, resolution of complaint and relevant demographic information (student name, ethnicity, program of study, age, gender) to allow periodic analysis for trends that suggest systemic problems in need of revision.

The logs of student complaints are available to SACSCOC upon request.
